ADMIRABLE Claire McCaskill vs. LIEUTENANT Jr. Blunt
Jr.
Blunt’s Sandbox vs. Claire McCaskill’s Mature Experience and Proven Record
How could anyone care so little for the future of Missouri that they would dare vote for Jr. Blunt for governor?
ELECT
Claire McCaskill MISSOURI GOVERNOR
- Do you want a Missouri Governor whose ability
to lead rank stopped with the U.S. Navy at the jr. officer level? That’s correct---the U.S. Navy has
never considered Matt Blunt eligible for promotion beyond lieutenant, the
rank given when he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy---just two ranks
above the bottom of the list. We
need a governor, who has proven she is a leader and she gets the job done.
- Do you want a Missouri Governor whose education
stopped at the bachelor’s degree level except for whatever training he
obtained while with the United Kingdom Navy? Claire McCaskill is a graduate of the University of Missouri
undergraduate and law school---she has the equivalent of a doctorate.
- Do you want a Missouri Governor who quit the
Mo. House after only one term and can point to few, if any,
accomplishments while serving in that body? One term, Lt. Jr. Blunt---that’s all he wanted to serve in
the Mo. House---just another stepping stone on the way to bigger
plans. While serving in the Mo.
House Claire McCaskill authored the Minimum Sentencing Act, handled the
Victim Witness Protection bill, was a leading advocate of the Parents as
Teachers program; was given awards too numerous to mention, including
Outstanding Legislator Award and the Medal of Honor from a national
foundation.
- After graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, before
he was elected to one term in the Mo. House Lt. Jr. Blunt sold tobacco
products and coffee. After she
served with distinction in the Mo. House, Claire McCaskill was Jackson County’s first
female prosecuting attorney where she had national recognition for her
innovative and aggressive policies, including one of the nation’s first
drug courts; dramatic decrease of violent crime in Kansas City; creation
of a fathering program, neighborhood protection unit, special domestic
violence unit, landlord training program; and served on the White House
Commission for Drug Free Communities.
- Lt. Matthew Roy Blunt Jr. quit the Mo. House
and asked the voters to bestow upon him the crown of Mo. Secretary of
State in 2000. Within the first
few months he was in office, his wife was overheard saying he despised the
position. Shortly after taking office his father
had Bush send him for a vacation and training in the United Kingdom on “active
military duty”. For the next six
months he was paid by the U.S. Navy and as Mo. Secretary of State in spite
of Mo. laws prohibiting double dipping for that period of time. While he was “on duty” his wife
purchased a house in Greene County, Mo. for which they failed to pay
proper taxes.
Throughout his tenure as Mo. Secretary of State Jr. Blunt chose to
rarely go to the office and when in the USA to merely sit at his house
claiming to operate the office.
Although he boasts of accomplishments as Mo. Secretary of State
staff members and even the public knows he’s made a shambles of the office and
accomplished virtually nothing positive.
AGAIN after merely one term he’s asked Mo. voters for a promotion and
this time he wants to be called governor, at least until there is a better
opening for something else.
- Contrast Matt Blunt’s accomplishments as Mo.
Secretary of State with Claire McCaskill’s tenure as Missouri
Auditor. Claire McCaskill is
serving her second term as Mo. Auditor and only ran for governor AFTER
citizens insisted on drafting her.
She has a proven record of cracking down on waste and fraud in
government, identifying means to streamline government services, and
eliminating red tape and unnecessary expenses so that Missourians are more
efficiently served at less expense to taxpayers. Her efforts to make government more efficient, effective,
and accountable are extensive and she’s proven she can lead Missouri in a
new, positive direction. She has
the research completed through many audits and she knows how to implement
positive change. Blunt’s rhetoric
is like a sand castle in a sand box---subject to shifting with the wind or
his father’s demands. McCaskill
has the foundation for solid programs that will making better tomorrows
for Missourians.
- Do we really want a governor who can get things
done on the priorities we care about or do we need to give Jr. Blunt
ANOTHER chance to do whatever his Pappa had in mind for Missouri in the
90s?
- Do we want a governor who has proven herself
capable and an independent leader or is it ok to expect Missouri to stay
near the bottom of the list in many things as we lose more of our state sovereignty
and a “leader” in Congress calls the shots for the Mo. Governor’s office?
- Do we want a governor, who loves a challenge
and inspires people to live up to their potential and has reached out to
Missourians of many political beliefs, independents, and those who do not
normally vote or should we worship certain families and help make sure the
Blunt family finally gets to live in the governor’s mansion?
- Do we want a governor who wants to focus on
social issues, past or present, versus improving the efficiency,
accountability, and effectiveness of government and solutions to the
problems Missourians face daily?
Focusing on social issues, aside from being designed by the
Republicans during the Nixon regime to divide voters is like the child
screaming “Mom, Mom what will we do for our ice tea tomorrow?” when a
glass container had shattered driving a piece of glass into the top of a
woman’s foot and sending blood spurting all over the room. Missouri is in crisis and must be
turned around---mature people know what issues must have priority now.
“Governor” McCaskill will work on preventing unwanted pregnancies,
but as a decisive and effective governor she will not allow that or any social
issue to consume most of her time.
- Missouri voters have an opportunity to turn the
mess we are in around. Family
dynasties and an inexperienced lieutenant trained in the United Kingdom
will not get the job done. Claire
McCaskill has a uniquely effective record of accomplishment and is ready
to lead Missouri. You owe it to
yourself and your children and grandchildren to vote for experience and
proven abilities---
